Ovulating eggs is necessary to the process of conception. Due to a number of medical reasons including PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), some women may not ovulate regularly, at the right time, or at all. Clomiphene citrate is an oral medication and is usually a first line medication that is prescribed to women who have difficulty ovulating. This medication can help a woman develop a follicle and ovulate a mature egg. Clomid is generally well tolerated, however, side effects may include hot flashes, nausea, hyperstimulation (rare), visual disturbances, and multiples.
