The IVF/Embryology Laboratory

The IVF laboratory at Dallas IVF was designed and constructed for the single purpose of offering women the best chance to conceive. Building materials were selected by nationally recognized scientific consultants in order to limit the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can be harmful to embryo growth and development.  VOCs are present in paints, glues, flooring, insulation, plastics and many other products.  To keep embryos safe from VOCs, Dallas IVF made the decision to construct a completely new facility from the ground up rather than to refurbish or build out space in an existing building, which might emit harmful VOCs. Our embryology and operating room suites have specially designed air-filtering systems that purify the air and remove these VOCs. Among IVF laboratories in the region, our air system is second to none. Find out more about our IVF Super Clean Room.

The IVF laboratory facilities are also among the largest in the Southwest United States. In addition to the main embryology room where our embryologists do a majority of their work, Dallas IVF has special rooms designated solely for cryopreservation, media preparation, and Preimplantatin Genetic Diagnosis (PGD). Dallas IVF is a reporting member of SART, the Society of Assisted Reproductive TechnologiesDallas IVF is a CLIA certified facility and is in the process of receiving CAP laboratory accreditation.

Security is extremely important to Dallas IVF.  To maintain security, our center has a wide range of surveillance systems, including, but not limited to, traditional building security, 24 hour video surveillance, motion detectors, and limited coded access to restricted areas.

Another unique aspect of Dallas IVF is our video integration.  Very few IVF labs in the world have video integration such that video and photos of the work our embryologists perform are recorded and streamed in real time to other parts of our center. For example, at the time of embryo transfer, our patients can view their embryos on large monitors during their procedure.

Our success in all aspects of assisted reproduction is due in large part to the skill of our embryology staff. This is the main reason why Dallas IVF and only a few other nationally recognized IVF centers around the country consistently have excellent pregnancy rates. Few embryologists have the skill and experience comparable to our scientific team, led by Oscar Perez, Ph.D., HCLD/ELD. It is well known in the field of assisted reproduction that pregnancy rates can vary tremendously among embryologists. The better the embryologist, the better the pregnancy rates.

The features such as limiting VOCs, designating special rooms for special procedures, tight security, video integration, and extremely skilled and experienced embryologists are just a few of the vital elements that allow Dallas IVF to remain a leader in the field of assisted reproduction.
