Exploring diminished ovarian reserve with Dr. Emily Goulet

Exploring diminished ovarian reserve with Dr. Emily GouletDr. Emily Goulet is an expert in diagnosing and treating diminished ovarian reserve. “I’m passionate about helping women with age-related infertility issues. It’s not fair that delaying childbearing until the time is right means a struggle to have children. I like that I can empower women to take control of their reproductive journey,” she says.

To help empower hopeful mothers, our Dallas fertility doctor is here to explain the basics of diminished ovarian reserve, including fertility treatment options.

What is diminished ovarian reserve?

A woman is born with all the eggs she will ever have, and those remaining eggs will decline as a woman ages. By age 35, most women will experience a rapid decline in their egg supply. However, some women will experience this decline earlier. Diminished ovarian reserve is when a woman has fewer eggs in her ovaries, which decreases her reproductive potential.

A number of factors can contribute to this condition, including genetics, the loss of an ovary, surgery on the ovaries, endometriosis, autoimmune disorders and cancer treatments.

Diagnosing and treating diminished ovarian reserve

Although diminished ovarian reserve means that it may be more difficult for you to conceive, it does not mean it’s impossible. Dr. Emily Goulet and our Dallas IVF physicians offer hope. They can perform diagnostic fertility testing to get a clearer picture of a woman’s fertility. Some of these tests include an antral follicle count and blood testing of FSH and AMH levels.

Dr. Emily Goulet and our Dallas IVF physicians will review the test results to determine the best treatment options for you. Because time is of the essence when it comes to fertility, our Dallas fertility doctor will often encourage more aggressive treatment options. Some examples include IVF and IVF with donor eggs, rather than just ovarian stimulation and intrauterine insemination (IUI).

Receiving this diagnosis is not the end of your fertility journey. It’s just the beginning. Contact us to schedule an appointment with our Dallas fertility doctor. Learn how Dr. Emily Goulet and our Dallas IVF physicians can help you achieve your family-building goals.
